Presentations with Open Discussions

I always have my students give presentations on a weekly basis. More often than not, I'll have them present an essay they've recently written. If your school doesn't want your kids doing essays during class time, assign it for homework. At the conclusion of their presentation, encourage your class to ask questions. You can always ask questions yourself at first if your class is shy. I wouldn't get in the habit of it, but initially, it’s a good way to stimulate conversation until your class starts getting involved with the exercise.
